Background
House Proud Furnishings are Northern Ireland's largest independent furniture retailer, with 7 regional stores. Within these stores they stock a huge range of sofas, mattresses, bedroom, living room and dining room furniture. Meteor Lite was tasked with upgrading the lighting provision within their Lisburn branch to a higher quality and more efficient LED system.
Solution
The Lisburn branch had predominantly 250W highbays illuminating the vast majority of the shop floor. We were able to replace the existing highbays with 100W Contator LED fittings; this lowered the wattage on each fitting by 150W whilst providing a better light output for the store. We also decided to use a 30W LED downlights to help enhance bed room section of the store. These fittings replaced 70W spotlights and reduced the amount of wattage used by over 50%.
Result
The new LED lighting system installed will allow House Proud Furnishing, Lisburn to save approximately 35,391kW of power per year. The new system has improved the overall lighting quality of the shop floor which is the main aspect of the premises. In addition each fitting used in this project has a life expectancy of 40,000-50,000 hours which means for retail companies such as House Proud which are open to the public 8-10 hours per day; they will significantly reduce their maintenance and replacement costs.
