Background
House Proud Furnishings are Northern Ireland's largest independent furniture retailer, with 7 regional stores. Within these stores they stock a huge range of sofas, mattresses, bedroom, living room and dining room furniture. Meteor Lite was tasked with upgrading the lighting provision within their Portadown branch to a higher quality and more efficient LED system.
Solution
A range of lighting was used for the premises in order to create the ideal setting for the wide variety of products within House Proud’s store. We were able to replace the existing 400W highbays with 150W Contator LED fittings, this lowered the wattage used by 62.5% and provided a better light output for the store. We also decided to use a selection of LED downlights to help enhance the style of lighting on the shop floor. These fittings helped highlight House Proud’s featured products as well as adding a contemporary style to the store.
Result
The new LED lighting system installed will allow House Proud Furnishing, Portadown to save approximately 42,870.72kW of power per year. The new system has improved the overall lighting quality of the shop floor which is the main aspect of the premises. In addition each fitting used in this project has a life expectancy of 40,000-50,000 hours which means for retail companies such as House Proud which are open to the public 8-10 hours per day; they will significantly reduce their maintenance and replacement costs.
